The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has said the party entered into an alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections due to growing uncertainty surrounding its legal status and the limited time before the polls.
The National Chairman of the party, Yusuf Dantalle, disclosed this on Saturday during an interview on Arise Television.

Dantalle explained that the leadership of the party, alongside Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, agreed that an alliance had become necessary in view of the prevailing political situation.
“APM is the kind of egalitarian political party we want to build. And Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, alongside the party leadership, felt that with elections approaching and uncertainty around the legal status, time was running out, so an alliance became necessary,” he said.
According to him, the agreement paved the way for new entrants into the party ahead of the elections.
“That agreement was reached, they were welcomed into the party, and by the grace of God, they are free and clear to contest,” Dantalle added.
The APM chairman further described the party as one operating without internal rancour, stressing that its leadership remained committed to due process and the rule of law.
“The APM is one party that I would say is clean, devoid of any form of rancour. And how did we achieve that feat? We try as much as possible to work within the laws,” he stated.
He also noted that while the party requires financial resources to operate effectively, it would not allow political godfathers to influence its internal affairs.
“Every voice in the party is important, and we also, in as much as we need financial resources to drive the activities of the party, would not hoodwink ourselves with any godfather to determine what happens in our party,” he said.
