One Mr Daniel Akinneyin has been stabbed to death in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje local government area of Ondo State by a suspect believed to be his wife’s lover.

According to the police, the deceased had accosted the 25-year-old Sunday Olumekun, who is suspected of dating Akinneyin’s wife, on why he should give his wife the sum of N100,000 to start a business.

The late Akinneyin, according to police sources, was understood to have approached the suspect to query him about the rationale behind the cash donation and accused the Olumekun of having a love affair with his wife as a result of which he gave her the start-up capital for her business.

The explanation given by the suspect, according to the Police First Information Report, did not go down well with the deceased, which led to a fight between both men.

The suspect, during the fight, reportedly brought out a knife and allegedly stabbed the deceased, which caused his untimely death.

The Ondo State police spokesperson, ASP Wole Ogodo, said the suspect has been transferred to the state CID in Akure, the state capital, for further investigation.
