The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, has dismissed speculation over the political future of former Osun State Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, expressing confidence that the veteran politician would remain in the party.
Adegoke made the remarks on Friday while featuring on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council Guest Platform, where he addressed issues concerning the state of the APC and preparations for future elections.
According to him, Omisore remains a respected political figure whose experience and political judgment make it unlikely that he would leave the ruling party.

“Senator Iyiola Omisore will not move away from the APC. He is a wise politician, and I respect his sense of politicking. He won’t go that way,” Adegoke said.
The APC chieftain argued that the party remains firmly established in Osun East Senatorial District, making it difficult for Omisore’s supporters to consider abandoning the APC.
“If you note, the whole of Osun East Senatorial District is with the APC. I am sure none of Omisore’s followers will want to leave where they are comfortable for another party,” he stated.
Adegoke also downplayed concerns over internal disagreements within the APC, describing them as routine challenges common to political parties.
“Disagreements are not peculiar to the APC. Every political party experiences internal disputes from time to time,” he said.
“In every political party, there would be disagreement. We have our own fair share of internal disputes, but it is manageable.”
He noted that party members who have expressed dissatisfaction with the APC were merely drawing attention to their grievances and would continue to be engaged by the party leadership.
“People resigning are only giving us advance notice. They will still be engaged. The party, as we are, is already discussing the sources of their concerns,” he added.
Adegoke further claimed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was no longer a formidable political force in Osun State, alleging that many of its supporters had aligned with other political platforms.
“Unlike other parties, like the PDP, which is not on the ground anymore, they have all dissolved into Accord,” he said.
The APC senatorial candidate expressed confidence in the party’s chances in future elections, arguing that the opposition had failed to effectively manage its internal affairs.
“Our chances of success are confident. The PDP could not manage its own party, and they want to win the state. The people who assisted them to win the 2022 election are now in the APC,” he stated.
Adegoke maintained that the APC’s internal disagreements were minor and would not affect its electoral fortunes.
“Our internal disagreements are minor and minute, and they will not affect our chances,” he added.
