Nollywood actress May Edochie has weighed in on the alarming rate of kidnapping and banditry in the country. She recently had her say via her Instagram page, and fans have been reacting.
Questioning why innocent citizens have to suffer the devastating consequences of insecurity, May revealed that she does not believe the Nigerian government cannot eradicate kidnapping and banditry once and for all.

Emphasizing Nigeria’s remarkable capacity during the Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic, the moviestar added that shutdown period proved that our leaders can respond effectively to major national crises.
Her words, “I strongly do not believe the Nigerian government is incompetent in dealing with kidnapping and banditry.
The government is aware of the problem and has the capacity to address it effectively. The question remains: Why must innocent citizens continue to suffer the devastating consequences of insecurity?
Every day, families live in fear, loved ones are abducted, and communities are traumatised. Nigerians in diaspora are scared of coming home. Nigerians deserve not just assurances, but tangible results that restore safety, confidence, and hope.
Nigeria demonstrated remarkable capacity during the Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic. These experiences showed that when there is urgency, coordination, and commitment, Nigeria can respond effectively to major national crises.
This is a call on the government to apply the same level of determination, coordination, and strategic action to the fight against kidnapping, bandits, and insecurity.
Nigeria has the intelligence and capability to stop banditry, kidnapping, and insecurity. We need the government to do the needful.”
