The Delta State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim, arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and illicit drugs in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKU) successfully rescued a kidnap victim unhurt without the payment of ransom following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The operation was launched after the Command received information on June 11, 2026, regarding the abduction of a male victim by armed men at Okpanam on June 10, 2026.

Acting swiftly on the report, operatives deployed intelligence assets and commenced a strategic operation aimed at locating the victim and apprehending the perpetrators.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, said sustained intelligence gathering and operational pressure forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee their hideout.
“As pressure mounted on the kidnappers through sustained intelligence gathering and operational deployment, the suspects abandoned the victim and fled from their hideout,” Edafe said.
He added that the victim was rescued unhurt, debriefed and reunited with his family, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Distress 01 Patrol Team attached to the Department of Operations intercepted a tricycle conveying three occupants while on routine patrol in Asaba on June 12, 2026, at about 12:30 p.m.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol.
The suspects, identified as Ewendeze De-Grace, 19; Eruweghene Amede, 20; and Chukwuemeka Arinze, 21, were immediately arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are allegedly members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity.
The suspects and the recovered firearm are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
In another development, operatives of the Kwale Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected drug distribution point in Kwale on June 10, 2026.
Upon sighting the operatives, two male suspects fled the scene, while a female suspect identified as Ananyi Vivian, 45, was arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the premises were being used for illicit drug-related activities.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted being aware of the illegal activities taking place at the location.
Edafe said investigations are ongoing, adding that efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring all persons connected with the illicit drug operation to justice.
