The Bayelsa State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Governor Douye Diri to adopt a more inclusive style of governance that prioritises the interests of Bayelsans over political considerations.
Speaking with journalists in Yenagoa, the state chairman of the party, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, called on the state government to focus on policies and programmes that promote sustainable development, economic growth and improve the welfare of residents.
Ikuromo also urged the Bayelsa State Government to refrain from allegedly attempting to induce NDC aspirants with financial incentives aimed at creating divisions within the party.

According to him, no amount of inducement would derail the party from its objective of taking over governance in the state.
He advised the government to channel such resources towards addressing pressing developmental challenges, including the issue of commissioned but non-operational gas turbines.
Reacting to reports of discontent within the party, Ikuromo said the NDC had already established a comprehensive grievance redress mechanism under the leadership of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
He added that the party’s National Executive Council would release the list of candidates for various elective positions within the timetable set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The NDC chairman also commended Senator Dickson for what he described as exemplary leadership during the party’s primary elections across the country.
He said Dickson demonstrated fairness, tact and wisdom in managing the exercise, ensuring equal opportunities for all aspirants.
Ikuromo further praised the party’s commitment to the inclusion of youths and women in its primaries, describing the policy as consistent with the principles of affirmative action and broader political participation.
According to him, such initiatives are essential to building a stronger and more inclusive political movement.
He, however, urged party members and supporters across Bayelsa State to remain united and focused on the party’s goal of taking over governance from what he described as a ruling party that has failed the people.
