The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has commended President Bola Tinubu for directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to lift the restriction on Osun State Government accounts.
IPAC described the President’s intervention as a demonstration of respect for the rule of law and due process, particularly as the state prepares for its August 15 governorship election.
The council said the development would help reduce tension surrounding the electoral process and restore confidence among political stakeholders.
According to IPAC, government institutions must operate within the limits of their legal mandates and avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary political controversy, especially during an election period.
The organisation also stressed the importance of allowing the Osun State Government to carry out its legitimate financial responsibilities without undue disruption.
IPAC urged political parties and their supporters to focus on peaceful campaigns and respect the electoral process as the governorship poll draws closer.
It further called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant institutions to maintain neutrality and ensure that all candidates are provided with a level playing field.
The council said a credible and peaceful election would strengthen democracy and reinforce public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral institutions.
