Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticised the government over the recent attacks on communities in Benue State.
Obi alleged that the government failed to adequately protect residents of Otukpo, Nobi, Efeyi and Ugboju communities from attacks that resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property.

He expressed concern over the recurring violence in Benue, stressing that the protection of citizens should remain the primary responsibility of government.
The former governor condemned the killings and described the situation as unacceptable in a country where citizens expect government to guarantee their safety.
Obi called for urgent and coordinated action by the Federal and Benue State governments to prevent further attacks and protect vulnerable communities.
He also urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and operations in affected areas to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
According to him, addressing insecurity requires more than military operations, stressing the need to tackle the underlying economic and social conditions that contribute to violence.
Obi commiserated with the families of victims and the people of Benue State, urging them to remain calm while calling on authorities to take decisive measures to restore peace.
He maintained that no meaningful development could take place in communities where residents live in fear of attacks and displacement.
