The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled Uche Ogah as its candidate for the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
The party said it was determined to replicate what it described as the success of the opposition in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election.

Speaking during the unveiling, the party said Ogah was selected to provide a credible alternative to voters in Abia State and challenge the existing political structure.
The NDC expressed confidence in Ogah’s experience and capacity to lead the state, urging residents to support the party ahead of the election.
It said the Osun election had demonstrated that opposition parties could defeat an incumbent administration when they unite, mobilise effectively and connect with voters at the grassroots.
The party pledged to adopt similar strategies in Abia by strengthening its grassroots structures and building a broad coalition of supporters.
NDC also urged its members to remain united and focused as preparations for the 2027 election intensify.
The party called on voters to assess candidates based on their competence, credibility and proposed policies rather than political affiliation.
Ogah, on his part, is expected to commence consultations and mobilisation across the state as the party works towards securing victory in the governorship election.
The NDC maintained that its objective was to provide Abia residents with a new political alternative and replicate the electoral gains achieved by opposition forces in Osun.
