The Super Falcons have dropped seven places in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released hours ago, falling from 36th to 43rd globally. Despite the decline, the 10-time African champions retained their position as the highest-ranked women’s national team in Africa.
The drop in the global rankings follows a disappointing run of results, including their quarter-final exit at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they suffered defeats to Malawi and Cameroon.

Globally, the top five positions remain unchanged, with Spain retaining first place ahead of the United States, Germany, England and Japan.
South Africa, Morocco, Ghana and Zambia occupy the second to fifth positions on the continent, respectively.
