MUFC Didn’t Prepare Well Enough For Hull City – Luke Shaw

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has voiced his frustration following the club’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Hull City. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.

Admitting that the team’s preparation was not up to standard, Shaw highlighted a critical failure in dealing with Hull City’s well-documented strengths ahead of the EPL opener.

Luke added that while the team had discussed the threats, the execution and the level of readiness were far below MUFC’s standard.

His words, “Really disappointing. It’s not us and we knew it was coming. I think as a whole, as a group, collectively, we could prepare better. Especially knowing how good they are at set-plays and what their dangers are.

Disappointing, I think we knew Hull’s strengths, Set-plays and wide positions and crosses into the box. At times we did defend well, but the goals, set-plays, not good enough. We knew they were going to be good from set-plays and ultimately it’s cost us the three points.

I think also going forward we were lacking that cutting edge today to score the goals and try to fight our way back into the game. No excuses at all in this game, but it’s the start of the season and maybe players are finding form a little bit. But no way is that an excuse, Manchester United should be coming to Hull and no disrespect to them, but we should be winning the game.”

That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992 the left and the right, but he’s not got any sense of danger yet, and empties the midfield area too readily.
