The Director of New Media and Strategic Communications of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has criticised Abia State Governor Alex Otti over the reported poor condition of a public school in the state, describing the governor’s performance as disappointing.
Agada said the NDC would work towards defeating Otti in the 2027 governorship election, arguing that the governor had not demonstrated the capacity to address the state’s governance challenges.

He made the remarks on Wednesday while reacting to a video circulating on social media showing the deteriorating condition of a school in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.
The NDC chieftain expressed concern over the learning environment captured in the video, insisting that children should not be made to attend schools with dilapidated structures.
In a post on his X account, Agada questioned claims that Otti possessed the ability to resolve governance problems, citing the reported condition of the school as a basis for his criticism.
“This is the person they said has the magic wand to solve misgovernance in Nigeria,” he wrote.
“An average Nigerian governor doing the barest minimum.
“No child deserves to learn in this kind of environment. Alex Otti is a failure, and we are kicking him out in 2027. Vote NDC,” he added.
Agada also urged voters to consider the NDC as an alternative in the next election, declaring that the party would seek to unseat the incumbent governor.
His comments add to the political criticism directed at Otti as parties and political figures begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, the video and Agada’s comments did not independently establish the circumstances behind the school’s condition, while no response from the Abia State Government was included in the report.
