French Football Federation (FFF) president Philippe Diallo has called for the controversy surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s comments about former Chinese leader Mao Zedong to end. This comes following the Real Madrid forward’s public apology, and fans have been reacting.
According to Diallo, he believes the situation should have been put to rest by now because Mbappe clearly meant no offence with his remark.

Philippe added that he hopes Kylian will not allow the ongoing distraction to derail the impressive season he has been having.
His words, “It is a controversy which, ultimately, should not, I hope, last because Kylian has very well explained the context in which this intervention took place.
He has apologised. I believe we should now leave it at that so that he can continue his season in the best possible conditions.”
