A team from the National Emergency Management Agency on Friday arrived Yola, the Adamawa capital, to receive 293 women and girls rescued by Nigerian soldiers from Boko Haram camps in Sambisa forest.
The army authorities on Tuesday confirmed the rescue of the women and girls.
Confirming the development in Yola, NEMA Public Relations Officer, Sani Datti, said the military had informed the agency that the victims, with the support of armed personnel, were on their way to Yola.
“Presently. I will not confirm to you where exactly the rescued victims are, but according to the military sources, they are on their way to Yola”, Mr. Datti said.
“So we are waiting for their arrival to receive them as the army is set to hand them over to us”.
Mr. Datti also said the agency had put all necessary arrangements in place to provide a camp for the victims.
