President Muhammadu Buhari has warned graduands at Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State that a university degree is no guarantee of the best life possible.
He told them that the certificate is not a food ticket but only an assistance of life and employment.
As he spoke about how his government plans to tackle youth unemployment and underemployment, the President praised the youths and urged them to make proper use of the opportunities FG has provided to reduce joblessness in the country.
His words, “You are cautioned that university degrees do not usher you into an El Dorado. It rather equips you with the competence to grapple with the ever-changing challenges of life, of which youth unemployment is a vexatious part.
“The Federal Government will remain undaunted in tackling the challenges of youth unemployment and underemployment through a matrix of initiatives.”
He spoke about initiatives like N-Power, the Bank of Industry Youth Entrepreneurship Support Programme and the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank of Agriculture Support Schemes and how they were set up to help the citizens.
