The out-going Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dauda Kigbu has formally handed over the affairs of the ministry to his successor, Abdulkadir Musa enjoining the senior management staff to extend the high level support and cooperation offered earlier to him.
While welcoming the new Permanent Secretary at the event which held in the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, Dauda Kigbu briefed him about the structure and mandate of the ministry as well as current initiatives like the auto policy, 24 hours business registration, the sugar policy, the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan (NIPR), the National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP), Industrial Property Automated System (IPAS) and numerous reforms in the ministry.
According to him, as part of efforts to combat corruption and money laundering, the government has established a Special Control Unit on Money Laundering which has been very active in relating with non-designated financial institutions such as legal firms, accounting firms and estate agents on effective monitoring. He further noted that the unit which is domiciled in the ministry, functions outside the premises; adding that for execution of its activities, officials of the EFCC are usually assigned to the unit along staff of the ministry for effective monitoring and performance.”
He advised the management staff to sustain their high standard of discipline, commitment, hard work and dedication to duties to enable the new Permanent Secretary achieve success. Daudu Kigbu informed the new Permanent Secretary that he was handing over to him a highly resourceful and dedicated workforce that will assist him to achieve the objectives of the ministry.
In his brief remarks, the new Permanent Secretary, Abdulkadir Musa thanked the outgoing Permanent Secretary for his careful briefing on the new mandate of the ministry. He promised to sustain the tradition of hard work and discipline he has met in the ministry; assuring the staff that he will emphasize on welfare to enable them deliver on the mandates of the ministry.
