It would be recalled that Abia State Government had, in response to public reservations; accepted to put – off the December 2013 Carnival as previously scheduled. Determined to basically showcase huge tourism and investment potentials of the State, the Abia State Government has approved a two day Easter Carnival/Cantata scheduled for Umuahia between 21st and 22nd April 2014 to make up for the rescheduled December 2013 Carnival and have an event that would be instituted as an annual one. The event which is designed to attract local and foreign arts, will predominantly be a blend of Abia’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary arts. However, the State Government wishes to further propagate the message of elegance in simplicity, as the Carnival in its mind eye would further promote rich moral values. The Cantata, the second and final leg of the two day event; would be a harvest of praises to the Almighty God, to herald his salvation for mankind and appreciate His grace that had sustained the government and people of Abia in many remarkable ways. Bearing in mind the huge financial implications of hosting such events, the Central Planning Committee for the Abia Easter Carnival/Cantata 2014 has been mandated to reach out to members of the Organized Private Sector (OPS) for sponsorship and partnership.
