The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has accused the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kingsley Ononogbu, of attempting to mislead President Bola Tinubu through false claims against Governor Alex Otti.
Ukoha’s reaction followed a statement by Ononogbu on Sunday, in which he criticised Governor Otti’s leadership style, describing it as a “one-man show.”
Ononogbu made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Partners, an APC initiative launched by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, in Bende Local Government Area.

The APC Chairman had faulted Governor Otti for allegedly running the state from his private residence rather than the Government House in Umuahia, the state capital. He also accused the governor of relying on social media propaganda to promote his administration’s achievements.
In a swift response, Ukoha dismissed Ononogbu’s claims, describing them as an attempt to misrepresent facts and deceive President Tinubu about the political strength of the APC in Abia.
“The statement is a desperate attempt by the APC Chairman to deceive and mislead President Bola Tinubu,” Ukoha said. “Instead of making baseless accusations, he should focus on how to deliver actual votes for the President in 2027, considering the party could only secure 4% of the total votes in the 2023 presidential election.”
He added that the issue of the governor’s place of residence had already been addressed by the state government and should not be recycled for political attacks.
“Ononogbu should desist from misinforming Mr. President and redirect his energy toward rebuilding the party in Abia,” Ukoha continued. “Governor Otti is being celebrated by Abians across all corners of the state for his performance, and no amount of false propaganda can erase that.”
The governor’s spokesman further warned that Ononogbu’s actions could damage the APC’s image in the state if not checked.
