The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party has commenced its congresses across states of the federation, with the exception of Abia State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the factional National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh.

According to the statement, the ward congresses are scheduled to hold on Tuesday, December 2, while the local government congresses will take place on Thursday, December 4.
The State Congress is expected to hold on Saturday, December 6, at the party’s state headquarters nationwide.
Ifoh explained that the Abia Congress was suspended following an order by an Abia State High Court restraining the party from conducting the exercise pending the determination of charges filed against the state leadership.
He noted that although the party resolved to comply with the order, it maintains that the court lacks jurisdiction over the matter. He added that the party’s legal department has initiated steps to vacate the order to enable Abia hold its congress at a later date.
Ifoh further stated that supervision teams deployed by the national leadership to monitor the congresses have submitted positive reports from various states.
He urged Nigerians to rally behind the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 general election, stressing that the party is being repositioned to strengthen its capacity to lead the nation.
