The Accord Party has denied participating in a meeting of 14 political parties held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a coalition reportedly agreed to field a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, the party said it was neither aware of the meeting nor represented at the gathering.
“It is imprudent and unjust to include a political party in a coalition it was not a part of,” the statement read.

Accord condemned the organisers for listing it among participating parties, insisting that its national leadership had no involvement in the meeting or its resolutions, including the plan to adopt a joint presidential candidate.
The party formally dissociated itself from the Ibadan political summit and warned against actions capable of heating up the polity ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Political parties are free to form a coalition that will produce a joint presidential candidate, which should be restricted to the parties involved,” it stated.
Describing the development as embarrassing, Accord demanded that its name be removed from the list of parties linked to the meeting.
“The party is focused on winning the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections and preparing for the 2027 general election. We will not be distracted by the intrigues of anti-democratic forces,” the statement added.
The party also urged Nigerians to remain united and committed to building a stronger democratic society.
