Accurate And Timely Information, Antidote To Security Breaches – Security Expert Submits

Accurate and timely information as an antidote to checking security breaches has again been stressed, as the Federal Government directed heads of tertiary institutions to fortify the security apparatus and personnel on Nigeria campuses.

The coordinator of Security and Intelligence Studies of the Afe Babalola University, (ABUAD) Ado Ekiti, Dr. Bodunde Oluwafemi stressed this at a routine security meeting of heads of tertiary institutions in Ekiti State with the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, in his office in Ado-Ekiti.

Dr Oluwafemi who said that Afe Babalola University was planned and structured in a way to forestall security breaches, urged other
institutions to design and pattern their structures in such a way that would make security watch on their campuses less cumbersome.

The Rector of the Crown Polytechnic, Odo,  Ado-Ekiti in his own submission called for periodic security meeting as well as trainings
on how to strengthen security and intelligence networks to avoid insurgencies and breakdown of security, not on campuses alone but all over.

Other speakers from various institutions submitted that it was high time security measures were put in place for the protection of lives and properties, adding that security situation in the country required that government should provide substantial funds for the installation of modern security gadgets in government-owned institutions.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Kolapo  Olusola had briefed the heads of the tertiary institutions on the needs to put
additional security measures in place on campuses in line with the federal government directive to forestall security breaches.

Similar security related meeting was held with the heads of state own tertiary institutions last week, all tertiary institutions of learning in the state were represented at the meeting except the Federal University, Oye Ekiti.
