    Activist warns against Shoddy Judgement for Killer Cop over Kolade Johnson

    A renown Human Rights activist and Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman has called on Magistrate (Mrs.) A.O. Salawu handling the case involving a dismissed Police Inspector, Olalekan Ogunyemi who sniffed a life from a 36 year-old Johnson Kolade on March 31st,2019 around 5.10 pm at Onipetesi Estate, Idi-Mangoro, Lagos State, to do justice to the matter before her accordingly.

    Although, Ogunyemi, 45, has been remanded in Ikoyi Maximum Prison by Magistrate Salawu of an Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos and he was earlier arraigned for murder,after an orderly room trial found him guilty of unlawful use of firearms.

    The Police Prosecutor,Inspector Kehinde Olatunde ,had told the Court that Ogunyemi used his AK-47 riffle to kill Jonhson Kolade by committing an offence contravened section 223 of Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

    Late Kolade had gone to watch an English Premier League Match in the area , some distance away from his residence when the incident happened.

    Magistrate Salawu had adjourned the case to till Monday 6th of May,2019 for the continuation of the hearing of the case.

    In a signed Press statement by Comrade Sulaiman which copies were available to newsmen on Sunday,urged the Court to ensure that Ogunyemi face the music of his misdeed as stipulated by the law of the land in order to serve as deterrent to other security personnel in the country.

    The rights activist who frowned on how the then presiding Magistrate of an Ikeja magistrate division in Lagos in its judgement gave ten (10) years imprisonment to the dismissed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agege Police Station that committed the similar offence during the 2012 Subsidy removal protest in Pen Cinema area,Agege in Like Lagos State.
