Ahead of the October 11 governorship by-election in Adamawa state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government to ensure credible election in the state.
The Deputy Director of the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Bindow Jibrilla Campaign Organization, Abdulrahman Jimeta, in a campaign rally in Fufore Local Government of the state yesterday, said “INEC must take necessary measures to ensure election materials arrived on time”.
He said that “if INEC delays for one minute, the APC will protest for one hour”.
“We are not going to tolerate excuses such as absence of register, short supply of ballot papers or lack of ink and the rest. All we want is a peaceful and credible election but if anybody tries to cheat us, we will be worse than hell”, Mr. Jimeta said.
“We have stayed long in poverty under PDP, we have stayed long under state of emergency under PDP. In fact we are undergoing untold hardship and the only thing left is death, we are ready to die protecting our votes”, Mr. Jimeta added.
He commended what he described as the commitment of Adamawa people to change and urged them not to be intimidated by anybody on Election Day. Mr. Jimeta further asked Adamawa residents to come out en masse to vote and protect their votes.
Mr. Jimeta reserved commendations for the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their efforts in combating the threats of insurgency in the state and urged them not to allow politicians to use them on Election Day.
