In a commendation issued on Friday, the southeast zonal leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) praised the resolute actions taken by the new Commissioner of Police, CP Danjuma Aboki, against promoters of the Monday sit-at-home in the southeast region.
Chilos Godsent, National Vice Chairman of the ADC, conveyed the party’s sentiments in a statement to the media.
The party expressed regret over the unlawful activities of pro-Biafra secessionist organizations within the Igbo ethnic-nationality states, emphasizing that such actions had yielded more harm than good.

Highlighting the impact of the Sit-at-home order enforced by IPOB’s leadership, particularly under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Southeast ADC chapter lamented the region’s vulnerability to wanton killings by unidentified armed individuals, bandits, and kidnappers over the past three years, with Imo state being notably affected.
The party urged the Imo State Police Commissioner to conduct a comprehensive conflict analysis to understand the root causes, dynamics, trends, and trigger factors of the conflict.
The ADC’s zonal leadership further recommended a three-phase security program.
In phase one, the focus is on providing adequate security to instill confidence in banks, federal and state ministries, and private service providers in Owerri metropolis to operate regularly on Mondays.
Phase two entails securing roads to enable safe travel for motorists without the threat of attacks from bandits.
Phase three involves deploying police intelligence and surveillance teams to patrol hotspots in various communities and local government areas.
The ADC urged CP Danjuma Aboki to initiate an inclusive town hall dialogue with Civil Society Organizations specializing in security conflict prevention, resolution management, and peace-building in Imo State.
The goal is to collaboratively develop an effective template to combat the rising insecurity in the state.
