The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has criticised the Presidency over its recent comments about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, urging the Bola Tinubu administration to stop what it described as unnecessary attacks.
The party called on the Presidency to “take it easy” and avoid insults in its exchanges with Atiku and other opposition figures.
The ADC said political disagreements should be addressed through constructive debate and the presentation of competing ideas rather than personal attacks.
It maintained that Atiku, as an opposition politician and presidential contender, had the right to criticise government policies and express his views on issues affecting Nigerians.
The party urged the Presidency to focus on addressing the economic challenges confronting citizens instead of engaging opposition figures in verbal exchanges.
The ADC also called on Nigerians to pay attention to the performance of the government and the policy alternatives being presented by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes amid an escalating war of words between the Presidency and opposition figures as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
