Oladipupo Adebutu, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has announced that his legal team has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court regarding the March 18 governorship election in the state.
In a Christmas message signed by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, Adebutu expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice, following his appeal to the apex court.
Adebutu had previously contested the election results, alleging over-voting, gross misconduct, disenfranchisement, and non-compliance with electoral laws, as well as non-compliance with the margin of lead principle against the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Despite the affirmation of Governor Abiodun’s election victory by the appeal court, Adebutu remains undeterred in his pursuit of justice.
He recently returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom to celebrate Christmas with his supporters after completing the necessary legal processes.
In his Christmas message, Adebutu drew parallels between the teachings of Jesus Christ and his own struggle for justice, emphasizing the values of love, compassion, and sacrifice.
He urged the residents of Ogun State to join him in prayer for the state’s well-being.
Adebutu expressed optimism that despite the challenges, victory would ultimately be theirs, bringing relief to the people of Ogun State.
He thanked the people for their unwavering support, citing it as a source of strength in their quest for justice.
As the legal battle continues, Adebutu called for moderation in the celebrations, expressing hope that victory is on the horizon.
