Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos has come out to say that he did not anticipate his team to finish inside the top three positions in the Afcon. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, it was definitely a difficult group to come out from in the first place, but he felt the confidence in the group to make it out alive.
Broos added that going as far as South Africa did was surely a fantastic experience for the entire team.
His words, “It is very difficult to find the words, I have to be honest also… I didn’t expect this.
When the draw took place, I said ‘Okay, we have a difficult group but it’s possible, we can go through, it’s possible’, but then you have Morocco… so normally you would be out. But I felt the confidence in the group and we beat them a few months before, so I said ‘yeah, yeah, it’s possible’, the guys also knew it was possible, then you win.
I said after Morocco, ‘We can reach the final’, so for me, it was a fantastic experience, some fantastic weeks with a fantastic group, I say always fantastic but it is fantastic; not only the guys who were playing but also the guys who were on the bench. There’s only one word; I had a fantastic experience and I’m very happy.”
WOW.
