    African Development Bank Commemorates World Toilet Day

    In commemoration of this year’s World Toilet Day, the African Development Bank is creating awareness about the health benefits of a good toilet hygiene across Africa.

    The African Development Bank noted that regular handwashing with soap is effective and preventive against the disease.

    Subsistent sanitation, handwashing facilities, clean water helps to protect the health and combat the transmission of infectious diseases like COVID-19, cholera etc.

    The African Development has initiated water, sanitation and hygien interventions with the aim of emphasizing the importance of sanitation, and its health, economic, and environmental benefits.

    The bank narrated that out of 60% of the world population; about 715 million people don’t have access to basic sanitation, subject to World Health Organization and UNICEF ‘ report.

    In view of this, the bank has in the last 10 years invested $6.2 inorder to foster universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, to improved sanitation.
