Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, recently, commissioned breast-feeding rooms for several mothers in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, to develop the general welfare of mothers and children.
Aisha Buhari, who was represented by Senior Special Assistant to President, Dr. Hajo Sani, described the breastfeeding rooms as amazing and great in the 36 six states of the federation.
According to her, “this is a place where mothers can conveniently breast-feed their children during working hours without any hiccup. This is an indica-tion of our commitments in advancing breastfeeding at all levels in the country.”
She said it was a joint effort between her Future Assured National Nutrition Anchor and the state to assist mothers and their children with regards to breast-feeding.
Also speaking, wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Bagudu, disclosed that global statistics indicated that 100,000 children die annually as a result of inadequate breastfeeding, costing the country over $21 billion annually.
