Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday dismissed any speculation about the possible impeachment of President Bola Tinubu, stating that the current National Assembly has no intention of pursuing such action.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized that while the legislature has the courage to hold the president accountable, there is no plan to initiate impeachment proceedings against Tinubu.
âIf this president has done well, is it not us (National Assembly) that will say so? If he has not done well, is it not us that will give him notice of impeachment?â Akpabio said.

âWe are not giving him notice of impeachment; we are giving him notice that it was difficult for you in 2023, but in 2027, I see everything turning aroundâthe number of states that are coming to join you.â
Akpabio’s comments come as the APC Governorsâ Forum formally endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in office.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, announced the endorsement during the summit, urging APC governors to fully support Tinubuâs re-election campaign and promote federal government policies within their states.
âThat the governors produced by the APC are hereby charged to take responsibility to market all federal government policies and occupy all the political space in their domains, win all elections in their states come 2027,â Uzodimma stated.
He continued, âIt is therefore my humble pleasure, with total humility to the Almighty God, to move that this august assembly adopt and concur with the position of the Progressive Governorsâthat Mr. President carries our flag in 2027, and the governors take the responsibility for delivering this mandate. I so move.â
The summit marks a significant show of unity within the APC as party leaders begin to lay the groundwork for Tinubuâs potential re-election bid.
