Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, on Sunday, Akpabio described the late elder statesman — who also served as Minister of Communication during the Second Republic — as a distinguished Nigerian who lived a life marked by service, integrity, and patriotism.
“It is with great sadness that I received the news of the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, a distinguished elder statesman and a dedicated public servant,” the statement read.

“Chief Ogbeh lived a life of service, integrity, and commitment to the development of our nation.”
Akpabio noted that Ogbeh’s tenure as a two-time minister under different administrations left enduring contributions to agriculture, rural development, and nation-building.
He described the deceased as “an intellectual storehouse” whose legacy would remain a testament to his dedication to public service.
“On behalf of my family, constituents, and the 10th Senate, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Chief Audu Ogbeh, his friends, political associates, and the people and government of Benue State, as well as our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the Senate President added.
He prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and eternal rest for Ogbeh’s soul.
