Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel says the second runway of Akwa Ibom International Airport, Uyo, will be ready for inauguration in the first week of July 2016 to serve as a perfect alternative in addressing emergencies.
Governor Emmanuel, who stated this Sunday at the airport while interacting with Government House reporters on arrival from official engagement in Abuja, described the runway as an asset capable of generating returns and enhance the license of Cargo operations in the Airport.
The Governor, who stopped at the Airport to inspect the second runway construction for Cargo Plane executed by Gitto Construzioni Generali. He stated that the quality of service and sincerity of purpose of the construction firm has propelled the payment plan to meet the expectations and expressed appreciation at the progress of work.
He hinted that the International Terminal which is also under construction would be designed to meet standard specifications and that the technical partners to handle the Maintenance, Repairs and Overhaul (MRO) Unit would soon be assigned.
The State Chief Executive said that he is working assiduously to make the state an investors’ haven by maximizing the abundant economic resources to create wealth and generate employment.
He explained that his frequent trip outside the state is to scout for investors, sign Partnership Agreements and secure approvals for projects to be executed to facilitate the industrialization programme of his administration.
Governor Emmanuel reiterated his administration’s resolve to strengthen the economic fortune of the state, and announced the creation of Marketing and Branding Department under Ministry of Investment, Commerce and Industry to highlight the investment potentials and attract investors to the State, assuring that he would not rest on his oars to until the vision of his Divine Mandate is actualized.
The Governor sued for collaboration between the people and the security agencies to make the state habitable stating that next year will witness influx of people to the State as more investors have indicated interest to open shops in the state and called on the people to keep faith with the administration as it cruises on an industrial revolution.
The Project Manager, Engr. Ghanem Rasbieh, appreciated the state government for giving the company opportunity to showcase their expertise in the building of the runway, and assured that the company would complete the project as stipulated in the contract. [AKSG]
