Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on residents to be patient as he works to reduce the prices of staple foods in the state.
This plea came during a session with Government House correspondents in Uyo, where he discussed the proposed establishment of the State Bulk Purchasing Agency.
The agency, currently under consideration by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, aims to regulate the prices of essential food items, ensuring they remain affordable for the populace.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno assured the public of a transparent process, stating, “We will buy the food items in bulk and ensure that they are made available to our people at relatively lower prices.”
Acknowledging the support of the House of Assembly in fast-tracking the bill, the Governor expressed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the people.
He said, “I want to assure our people that we feel their pain and are working hard to ensure that food security for our people is guaranteed.”
Governor Eno, reflecting on his mandate from the people, emphasized his connection to their plight, stating, “That’s why they voted for me overwhelmingly, and as you know, I came from this stock, and I feel their pain completely.”
He urged patience from the public, assuring them that once the bill is passed, he will promptly sign it into law.
