In a renewed effort to curb crime in the community, the Aladja Crack Team—comprising Exco, Vigilantes, Hunters, CJTF, and Quarter Youth Excos—on Thursday, January 9, 2025, arrested a 23-year-old suspected motorcycle thief, Joshua Akpotu.
Akpotu, a resident of Ovwian Community in Delta State was apprehended for allegedly stealing a Qlink motorcycle belonging to one Efe Mukoro.
The suspect was intercepted by members of the security team patrolling the streets of Aladja. Upon being flagged down, Akpotu attempted to flee but was pursued and captured by the team.
According to sources, the suspect confessed to working with accomplices to steal motorcycles within and outside Aladja. Security personnel subsequently escorted Akpotu to a location he identified as a hideout where one of his accomplices resides.
The Aladja Crack Team has since handed the suspect over to the Police at the Ovwian/Aladja Division for further investigation and prosecution.
This development follows a string of successful operations by the security outfit. Recently, they apprehended four notorious armed robbers and transferred them to the police.
However, two of the suspects reportedly escaped from police custody.
The Aladja community security team continues to intensify efforts to rid the area of criminal elements.
