The Tarauni Federal Constituency seat was restored to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, by the Court of Appeal.
According to InfoStride News, the National and State Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Kano disqualified NNPP candidate Mukhtar Umar Yarima.
The court that deemed Hafizu Kawu the victor dismissed Yarima after he was accused of certificate fraud.

Due to submitting a falsified copy of his primary school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the three-man panel led by Justice I.P. Chima ruled that Yerima was ineligible to run for office.
On Saturday, however, the appeals court ruled against the lower court, ruling that no forgery case had been established.
Yerima had previously denied providing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with fraudulent materials in order to be elected.
His name had been officially changed well before the 2023 general elections, he told the Tribunal, explaining the irregularities in his credentials.
