The Young Progressives Party, YPP, has announced its decision to boycott the Anambra State local government elections, citing alleged violence, irregularities and concerns over the conduct of the exercise.
The party said it could not participate in an electoral process it described as lacking the necessary conditions for a credible and transparent election.

The YPP alleged that the atmosphere surrounding the election had been characterised by violence and other irregularities capable of undermining the integrity of the process.
It called on relevant authorities to address the concerns raised by political parties and ensure that future elections in the state are conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner.
The party urged security agencies and electoral stakeholders to protect voters and candidates and create a level playing field for all political parties.
The boycott adds to concerns surrounding the conduct of local government elections in Anambra State, particularly over allegations of irregularities and insecurity.
Political parties and stakeholders have continued to call for credible electoral processes as preparations for future elections gather momentum across the country.
