The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, to return to the PDP, describing the party as “rejuvenated and restructured.”
The appeal was made in a communiqué issued after an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held in Awka on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed the current state of the party and charted a way forward for its growth and stability.

Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, defected to the Labour Party in 2022 after expressing dissatisfaction with his prospects within the PDP ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
In the communiqué signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Chidi Chidebe, the PDP warned against alliances with “ideologically incompatible political formations,” stating such coalitions would unlikely yield meaningful results.
“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to return home and reunite with the now rejuvenated and restructured PDP,” Chidebe stated.
“We will gladly welcome our brothers and sisters back to join us in the collective quest for a better Nigeria,” he added.
The party also called on the electorate in Anambra to rally behind its candidates, Mr. Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate, Mr. Francis Okeke, in the upcoming election.
It urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
Additionally, the PDP announced the unanimous nomination of Chief Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio representing Anambra State. Chidebe appealed to the Southeast Zonal Executive Committee led by Chief Ali Odefa to recognize and forward Ezike’s nomination to the party’s national secretariat for ratification.
