West Bromwich Albion striker Victor Anichebe is a serious doubt for today’s clash against Swansea after suffering a groin problem in the warm up at Burnley.
.
Anichebe played through the pain at Turf Moor but only lasted 18 minutes before he was replaced by substitute Saido Berahino.
.
The 26-year-old front man has been a regular starter under Pulis and with Albion’s lack of forward options, his latest injury is far from ideal.
.
Top scorer Berahino and Brown Ideye whose equaliser on Sunday earned the Baggies a point, are the remaining options in attack to face Gary Monk’s Swans.
.
“Victor felt his groin in the warm-up against Burnley,” explained Pulis.
.
“We had to wait until the last minute to make a decision on whether to start him or not.
“We took a chance with him but he was struggling, he couldn’t move so we had to bring Saido on early.”
.
Injuries have blighted the 26-year-old’s career, and it’s not the first time his groin has caused him problems in his short time at The Hawthorns.
.
That the former Everton forward could be sidelined again is a blow to Pulis, who failed to sign another striker in the January transfer window after aborted attempts to bring Carlton Cole and Shola Ameobi to The Hawthorns.
