Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has rejected the decision of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) affirming former National Youth Leader, Sunday Ude-Okoye, as the authentic National Secretary.
Anyanwu dismissed the BoT’s resolution, stating it could not be taken seriously. His disagreement with Ude-Okoye over the National Secretary position has persisted despite a Court of Appeal judgment on the matter.
Ude-Okoye was endorsed by the PDP Southeast caucus following Anyanwu’s decision to contest the Imo State governorship election.

However, upon Anyanwu’s return, Ude-Okoye refused to relinquish the position, leading to a series of legal disputes.
Tensions escalated during the party’s BoT meeting in Abuja, where supporters of both politicians clashed after Anyanwu was reportedly locked out of the venue.
Following an emergency BoT meeting on Wednesday, the party’s trustees officially affirmed Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary.
In his reaction, Anyanwu insisted that Ude-Okoye could not be sworn in as directed, citing an ongoing court case.
Speaking to journalists, he argued that the decision lacked legitimacy due to the expiration of the tenures of most BoT members who participated in the meeting.
“I’m a member of the BoT, but I was not invited to the meeting, and neither was the National Chairman. This says a lot,” Anyanwu stated. “In any case, the tenure of about 80% of those present expired in October last year.
They are also aware that this matter is in court. Even Chairman Wabara, who was taken to court, sent a representative. Their advice is just that—advice, and it cannot be taken seriously.”
