The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has leveled accusations against the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), asserting that the latter is intensively attempting to sow discord and disrupt the tranquility of peaceful Kano through a series of allegedly sponsored failed protests.
Dr. Musa Kwankwaso, a prominent APC member and former House of Representatives candidate from Madobi, Kura, Garun Mallam, voiced these concerns during a media briefing on Wednesday.
Kwankwaso accused the NNPP of breaching the Peace Accord signed at the Police Headquarters by backing protests in the city.

Highlighting the context, Kwankwaso stated, “We are all aware that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the March 18th, 2023 Governorship Election by the Elections Petitions Tribunal, with Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna announced as the duly elected Governor of Kano State.
The same judgment is reaffirmed by the Appeal Court.”
Expressing discontent with the NNPP’s response to the Appeal Court decision on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kwankwaso accused the party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement of engaging in extensive propaganda, insulting the judiciary, and attempting to incite political violence in Kano.
Kwankwaso claimed, “They have spread false claims that Kano state is facing serious tension by funding patches of protests and rallies across the metropolis, in violation of the Peace Accord signed at the Police Command recently, part of which has banned such public assemblies.”
He emphasized that the peace and tranquility in Kano contradict the alleged tension portrayed by sponsored protests.
Kwankwaso criticized the NNPP for diverting resources to international platforms instead of awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision and accused them of sponsoring youths to cause tension after demolishing properties illegally.
Issuing a stern warning, Kwankwaso asserted that Kano’s people cannot be manipulated through sponsored protests, as they believe in divine power determining leadership.
He concluded, “The people of Kano are with APC and with Gawuna and Ganduje. We won the election, and the court detected the invalid votes they mischievously placed during the polls and canceled them.
All the protests they are staging are fake and with the deliberate intention of heating the polity and creating undue tension where there is none.”
