As the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrates its 10th anniversary and President Bola Tinubu unveils his administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, the party is asking Nigerians for their patience and understanding.
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, issued the demand.
The “Renewed Hope” plan, he told APC members across the country, will bring about peace, unity, security, and prosperity.
“We congratulate our members, stakeholders, and leaders on this momentous occasion, the tenth anniversary of our great party, the APC.
We honor the progressive ideals and principles to which our party’s forefathers dedicated themselves.
Morka said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) “hung our nation precariously by its maladministration,” and that this was what sparked the creation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He remembered how the APC came to be through the consolidation of three political parties in Nigeria: the Congress for Progressive Change, the All Nigeria Peoples Party, and the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).
From its modest beginnings, Morka said, the party had come a long way to become the largest political party in Africa, with more than 40 million members.
He claimed that the APC had accomplished this by introducing people-oriented policies that would set the stage for the country’s overall improvement.
Significantly, the party gained the presidency, the National Assembly, and a majority of the states in its maiden run in 2015, defeating the incumbent PDP.
This success was replicated in the general elections of 2019 and 2023, giving the incumbent a mandate to strengthen leadership, improve governance, and push the boundaries of our country’s economic and social progress.
“As the party celebrates this milestone, we laud our compatriots for their invaluable support and resilience these past years,” the APC scribe said.
