An All Progressives Congress Chieftain, Mr Kayode Ojo has advocated the restructuring of the current security architecture of the country.
Ojo stated this while fielding questions from Journalists at Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
He observed that the country was already comatose and required urgent attention to grow the confidence of Nigerians in the government.
Ojo while lamenting the insecurity in the country, said no one can travel kilometres without the feeling of apprehension and fear of possible kidnap, the is he said, confirms how bad the security set up in Nigeria is.
In his words “What we need now are people with good ideology, people with quality leadership, who could use their knowledge to revamp the economy, ensure security and bring succour to the people,”
He said all hands must be on the deck to strategise on how to mobilise everyone with a view to securing the streets, towns, immediate environments, and villages.
“It’s just that now that we have social media, it is easy to report situations but I believe that the authorities are taking action to deal with the insecurity that is ravaging the country.
“All I will have to say is that security is not only for the government but for all of us, every single person has a role to play.
On the economy, the industrialist cum politician advised the federal and state government to build on the harmonious relationship that has been existing between the two tiers of the government to resolve the issue of the controversial Value Added Tax (VAT)
“Let us remember that we are the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, so, I don’t expect the VAT issue to disorganise us and degenerate to chaos.
“The committee set up by the Federal government and the states should parley and see how they will generate maximum benefit for all and sundry.
“The two parties should arrive at the best option that could be good for both the federal and the States government and, I am sure, we can reach a compromise.”
