An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Jigawa State, Auwalu Gumel, has said that Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, made notable contributions to the fight against insecurity during his time in office.
Gumel made the remark in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Badaru resigned as defence minister earlier in the week and was immediately replaced by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.
Reacting to the development, Gumel acknowledged that while the former minister had his shortcomings, he showed strong commitment to improving national security.
“H.E. Badaru Abubakar, no doubt, despite his civilian background, did tremendously well in areas of security. The passion that he put into the job and his understanding of the dynamics of social strife prepared him for the task,” Gumel said.
He added that some “sponsored faceless groups” had taken unfair shots at the former minister for political reasons.
Gumel maintained that Badaru “remains committed to Nigeria’s security and safety” and continues to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
InfoStride News reports that General Musa was screened and confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday.
