Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and restrain the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, following a fresh threat of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara by members of the Rivers State Assembly led by Marthin Amaewhule.
Eze, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Tinubu to “prevail on Wike to curtail the excesses of the 27 lawmakers,” whom he described as “the minister’s foot soldiers.”
He emphasized the need for Tinubu to “call Wike to order to save the situation of a perceptible breakdown of democratic institutions by the lawmakers” who, according to him, “are taking orders and prohibitions from the Minister.”

Governor Fubara had recently expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of some local government chairmen in the state, accusing them of disrespect.
This discord has exacerbated the political crisis and power struggle between the governor and his predecessor, with some local government chairmen and a majority of state assembly members distancing themselves from the Fubara-led state government, and instead, aligning with the minister.
In response to the impeachment threats, Eze stated that it was baseless as there was no evidence of any wrongdoing by the governor to warrant such action.
He urged Governor Fubara to remain focused on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Rivers State despite the distractions.
