The All Progressives Congress (APC) has categorically refuted any intention to compromise the anticipated Supreme Court judgment concerning the Kano governorship election.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Abdullahi Abbas, the Chairman of APC in Kano, addressed rumors circulated by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and asserted the party’s commitment to the rule of law.
Abbas clarified that the NNPP had allegedly spread rumors suggesting an outreach to President Bola Tinubu for intervention in favor of their candidate and a subsequent defection to the APC.

Dismissing these claims, Abbas emphasized, “President Bola Tinubu is a democrat and strongly believes in the rule of law and the right thing to be done and therefore will not be part of any arrangement or reconciliation to subvert justice.”
The APC chairman highlighted that there was no evidence of such a meeting with either the President or any party leader.
He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to pursuing its case at the Supreme Court, expressing confidence in a favorable outcome.
Abbas emphasized that the APC was not privy to any alleged arrangement and would focus on presenting concrete and convincing evidence, as demonstrated during the tribunal and the Appeal Court, to secure victory.
In conclusion, Abbas reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice and the democratic process, dispelling any notions of compromise in the impending Supreme Court judgment on the Kano governorship election.
