Several governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the anticipated defection of Governor Umo Eno from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
The APC governors gathered at the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo to welcome Governor Eno into the ruling party.
Among the visiting governors are the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Also present are Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
Governor Eno had hinted at his impending defection during a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi on Wednesday, declaring that “it is time to move” and align Akwa Ibom State with the APC-led federal government.
According to him, the decision to switch parties followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders in the state.
