Role Summary/Purpose: Role to be based in South Africa or Nigeria depending on suitable candidate found.
The Sourcing Programs Leader drives strategic initiatives for the OneGE Africa Sourcing organization. In this role, you will expand supplier capabilities in key markets to meet the needs of multiple GE businesses. This role requires a strong interaction with the Regional and Global Indirect Sourcing team, Supplier Development team, Controllership, and Lean Six Sigma organization
Essential Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams empowered to execute the Lean Six Sigma strategy for process improvement in the areas of Vendor & Contract Management, Systems, Analysis & Reporting, Local Content, Training, Compliance & Controllership
• Support the Regional Sourcing Leader with GE Indirect Sourcing Council activities and deliverables
• Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability and business processes to reduce defects and attain world-class levels of quality, through completion of a training program on Lean Six Sigma philosophy, theory, and application tools / tactics
• Facilitate, train, and coach team members in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools
• Work with operating leaders and teams to uncover and assess Lean Six Sigma opportunities for OneGE Africa’s Sourcing organization
• Serve as a change agent in institutionalizing Lean Six Sigma quality in conjunction with the Indirect, Supplier Development and Buy-To-Pay teams
• Partner with Global Commodity Leader, Indirect Sourcing Hub Leaders and Global Operations Enterprise Leaders to operationalize processes and controls including metrics and dashboards to ensure zero leakage on deflation projects and optimization of ……
• Constantly seek, share, and implement best practices
• Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams
• Communicate teams’ progress to Champions and Business Leaders
• Identify and execute potential process improvement projects across the region
• Drive culture of safety, compliance and execution to meet GE commitments
• Drive continuous process improvements to meet cost savings and quality metrics
• Proactively support GPB, SII, Session T and other strategic business planning
• Coordinate identification and standardization of process, training and skill requirements
• Communicate at all levels of a matrix organization on implementation status
• All other tasks as directed
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, operations, supply chain from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Sourcing and Process Improvement positions
• Working knowledge of GE Oil & Gas, Power & Water products and services
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Working knowledge of GE Sourcing processes & practices
• Working knowledge of GE businesses including Oil & Gas and Power & Water
• Willingness and ability to travel regionally at least 30%
• Minimum: MBB – Master Black Belt certification with at least 5 years of practical experience in high technology roles including Energy or Automotive industries
