Seven governorship aspirants who contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket in Ondo State on April 20 have thrown their support behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The aspirants endorsed Governor Aiyedatiwa about a month after the shadow primary was held in the state, ahead of the November 16 governorship election.
The aspirants, including Morayo Lebi, Dayo Faduyile, Soji Ehinlanwo, Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, and Jimi Odimayo, appealed to party members to prioritize peace and unity over division within the party.

In a statement signed by the seven aspirants, they emphasized the need for party members to focus on ensuring the victory of the APC in the forthcoming governorship polls.
“The party position is that His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa is our gubernatorial candidate; this position should be sacrosanct to us all, even when some of us have expressed some reservations,” the statement read.
Acknowledging that perfection is a moving target, the aspirants highlighted their roles in nurturing the party’s growth and stressed the importance of maintaining unity within the party.
“We therefore call on our supporters and all stakeholders to put aside personal interests and allow the overriding interests of the party to take precedence,” the statement concluded.
