The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its gratitude to the people of Edo State for their support in electing its candidate, Monday Okpebholo, as the new governor of the state.
The party’s appreciation follows the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, confirming Okpebholo’s victory in the Edo State gubernatorial election.
Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to emerge victorious, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, who garnered 247,274 votes.

The announcement was made by the Returning Officer, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna. Kuta revealed that the APC candidate triumphed in 11 out of the 18 local government areas within Edo State.
Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, took to the party’s official X (formerly Twitter) page to acknowledge the support of the Edo electorate.
In his statement, Morka highlighted the significance of Senator Monday Okpebholo’s victory, attributing it to the resonance of his campaign message with the people of the state.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo’s well-deserved victory in the keenly contested election is an attestation that his message of hope and restoration struck a chord with the good people of Edo State,” Morka stated.
He further expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s capacity to deliver on his promises, signalling a new chapter for the state.
“We are deeply thankful to the Edo electorates for standing firm in support of our great party and voting decisively for our candidate.
We are confident that Okpebholo’s leadership will usher in a new era of peace, people-centred development, and prosperity for the state.”
As Edo State prepares to transition into a new administration, the APC remains optimistic about the positive impact of Okpebholo’s leadership, with promises of improved governance and development for the people of the state.
