The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has hinted that another opposition governor is set to defect to the ruling party.
Basiru made the disclosure on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, monitored by newsmen.
He spoke while reacting to the recent defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State to the APC.

According to him, the party now controls 30 states following Fintiri’s defection and is optimistic that the number will soon rise.
“With Governor Fintiri, the APC has 30 states, and hopefully, in the next one to two weeks, it will be 31 states,” Basiru said.
He explained that the party’s broader objective is to build a pan-political platform capable of fostering national development and unity.
“Our goal is to create a pan-political party. And we thank Nigerian people that we are achieving that one.
“We want to have a consensus of opinion to develop Nigeria. And when you have already been able to edge out divisive tendencies that partisan politicking gives, you will be able to concentrate very well on governance,” he stated.
